    Movie Simulation: DVD Releases

Simple, what started off as a DVD release for The Long Run turned into a slight fad as of late.

As a result, I'm introducing a new branch for the Movie Simulation universe:

You can release your films onto DVD, following these strict guidelines:

The awards season for your film MUST have passed, otherwise it will be too early to release.
You must add an American Age rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17), keeping in mind that the rating will have a deciding factor on how well your DVDs sell.
You must give the following outline-

Film: (Can be a film series in the one pack, or a collection of the sorts, eg. "The MohadGlub Collection", in which case you should specify the films in brackets.)
Edition: (Standard, Collector's, Special, Anniversary, etc. Also remember that a multi-movie package requires one disc per movie.)
Discs: (Any number, though it will affect the production price.)
    Production Cost: ($2.50 per disc.)
Sell Price: (At least twice the production cost... I mean, hey, you want a profit, right?)
Shipment: (A number of DVDs to ship. Starting bet should be around 10,000. What isn't sold after that gets put on the shelf. This is the big part, where you could lose money.
Cover Description: (Post a picture if you like.)
Back Cover Text: (Write up the text promoting the story or the edition.)
Special Features: (Any special features herein. You have a limit of three featurettes and a commentary track for the one disc, anything beyond requires two or more discs.)
Distributor: (Universal, Paramount, Village Roadshow, Warner Video, etc.)

Is there any chance that you could tell me how much a brand new released dvd goes for in the U.S.? Its usually around £14.99 in the U.K.

Well, you post your current budget with it also, and I'll give or take money from it depending on how well the DVDs cost.

I gave you the information there on selling DVDs. First releases and special editions might cost more (up to $30 or even more), and after a while will go down (unless it's an old film. ie. The Long Run would probably sell now for about $10, two-disc version and all).

The new budget I provide for you will go straight back to the main movie game.

    Entertainment In Video?

That's not a distributor. If you were looking for something more official then 20th Century Fox, or Village Roadshow, or Paramount, or something like that would be better suited.

But I've never heard of Entertainment In Video, the only smaller companies I can think of are MRA and Magna Pacific.

Could this please be restricted to special DVD sets/packs/editions?? Otherwise everyone will be releasing standard DVD's just to make money.

If its kept to something like a collectors bundle or a special edition that would only be done for sparing films, it will keep this as a noevlty that you can do once you have an extremely successful film.
