It was one of the worst films I've ever seen. I couldn't understand what kind of film it was supposed to be and it didn't work for me at all.
While it isn't as emotionally powerful as its cinematic cousin Garden State, Elizabethtown is a hilarious and heartfelt comedy that is reminiscent of Cameron Crowe's best work. Orlando Bloom gives his best performance and the supporting cast are all deliciously rich.
The story just goes nowhere. Orlando Bloom's performance is embarrassing while Kirsten Dunst remain blank. A bad rep for the Cameron Crowe who brought us the screenplays of "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous!"
This movie was very cute and charming, not anywhere near as good as expected but absolutely worth watching!
Orlando Bloom's bad american accent was bothering me through out the whole movie. And im not even american!
This was a pretty good film. About a failed shoe designer that travels back east for his father's death and meets a stewardess, that shows him, there is more to life than defeat. I liked this movie and I would recommend it.
Boring and uneventful. Also, I hate Orlando Bloom. The man has the screen presence of a whale's carcass. I'm not too keen on Kirsten Dunst either.
You know... the movie was not the greatest. But it was soooo worth it to sit there and watch orlando bloom for over 2 hours...
An Industrial Designer Drew Baylor's (Orlando Bloom) sister (Judy Greer) call & tells him his father named Mitch Baylor (Tim Devitt) has just died & he has to go to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Drew's sister named Heather Baylor (Judy Greer) & mother named Hollie Baylor (Susan Sarandon) with Jesse Baylor (Paul Schneider) tell him they wish to cremate his father's body at the airport on the empty plane, a quick-witted flight attendant, Claire (Kirsten Dunst). Drew's mother & sister arrive in Kentucky for the memorial service after various people speak in memory of Drew's father. Drew continued his journey to go to the "Second Largest Farmer's Market in The World" in Oklahoma City [a note telling him to "look for the girl with a red hat".] Drew finds Claire with a red hat & kiss her.
Plot was okay, as was the acting by both Orlando and Kirsten, but it was just sooooo fuckkinnnngggg lonnnnggg
the storyline about the lost father and the subsequent relations to home and family stuck out strongest for me. the rest seemed lacking. the loss of nearly a billion dollars worth of business not only was poorly detailed and explained, but also seemed too Greek for the relative "average" nature of the story and its characters. the love story was also typically romantic-comedy and relied on bold, repetitive attempts at wit and physical attraction rather than actual substance. still a feel-good, enjoyable movie, but I think you'll get more for your experience from its fraternal twin Garden State.
Entertaining Cameron Crowe film that shows a young man grappling with love and life. This is a film that grows on you as it goes. The ending is heartwarming and is the highlight of the film.
A little contrived up until the last sequence. The final twenty minutes really made the entire movie worthwhile.
Thoughtful, entertaining and insightful. If any girl ever planned a road trip like that for me, I think I'd marry her the next time I saw her.
The character of Claire was fun and it was very interesting to hear Orlando do an american accent. Sometimes I heard that British accent slipping through...
This movie has quite a cute ending to it, though very predictable. The character played by Kirsten Dunst is very quirky. It's one of those movies that I could only watch a couple of times.
If there's one thing I can't stand in a movie, it's historical inaccuracy. I'm from the areas in and around Kentucky where this movie was filmed and it just floors me that they didn't even film E-town IN E-town. Most of it was filmed here in Louisville on bustling downtown streets -which E-town does not have. E-town is a charming little town which unfortunately has fallen victim to Walmartization, but finding it's own personal charm would have been a lot more realistic and believable in context. Small town American is not uptown cosmopolitan and should not be lied about to sell movies.
And the story? What was this chick's obsession with him any way? She seems unnecessarily desperate in a creepy way.
What little bit of this I did watch bored me. Yet another "quirky" comedy. I realize though, I like Kirsten Dunst's acting a lot more than I ever thought I would. That or she's chosen her roles pretty smartly. I should have put this note in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" where I thought her playing with your expectation of her versus what turns out was brilliant. Here she plays who you expect her to play, but still manages to engage and at turns surprise. Just wish the script had lived up.
Sadly, Drew's father died and met Clare the air hostess on trip to Elizabethtown, he fell in love. The sweetest thing was Clare arranged his road trip home by book/map/CD.
This film is good, as it shows that people can come together and be together, no matter how far apart they may be, and they are always able to get together in the same place at the same time. Funny point about this film is Orlando Bloom having an American accent, as he is a British actor.
There's tears, laughter and other forms of emotions along the way

What is a movie?
For some a moment to joy with a signicant other, a moment to be entertain, for not to be boring, maybe to learn, or just a homework or for a project, a moment to share. For many people just something to watch and heard.
I saw myself in this movie and made me realize what i want, and by this i made a big decision in my life. All my life i did great things but nothing really complete. What im waiting for?
I want my future now. And im going for that.
I will be forever thankful to this movie and others that made me stronger.
