How has Jason become so inconic? With Freddy Krueger you had imagination and a different slant, with the original Halloween you had some beautiful camerawork, but this is so very nothing. Load of teenagers go to a cursed camp and are killed one by one. The kills are not gorey or surprising and even putting that it's not Jason that kills in this one but his mother doesn't ruin the film. Unrecommendable.
really disappointing and lame throughout, however I will say the ending/lake scene scared the shit out of me, but who the hell wants to wait through the whole damn thing just for one good scare? not me.
i'll remember this movie for the first time to see i saw this film(i already seen all trilogy before see "friday the13th part 1")and i thought it was jason voorhees(i notice this for he did all trilogy)who did all the trilogy but it only for jason voorhees's mother who killing the camp counselors in reopening camp crystal lake.
there lots of sequels..
Kind of a letdown, some creative kills and a great ending but very pedestrian, borrows alot from Halloween.
i LOVE these movies...i know the acting and special effects aren't that great...but they still scare the shit out of me:)
After I watch this film, after a while, I have to admit it is the scariest a film gets for myself, personally.
The first in the slasher genre adventure of Jason Vorhees begins with no Jason. It's his Mom. Scary.
The original and one of the best of The Friday The 13th Movies, there is no Jason in this one, but that doesn't make it bad at all. Overall its one of the greatest and classic horror movies of all time that spawned nine sequels and soon a remake, not alot of movies can claim that.
Classic, the FT13 franchise is my favorite one of them all and the first film is a classic. Even though it was inspired by another movie TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE (english title) FT13 still holds up till this day. If you haven't seen it then what are you waiting for.
Bwhahahaha. Oh man, I can't believe it actually had that many sequels, and that I've seen some. It's just terrible, boring, and not even scary.
I had no idea that Kevin Bacon was in this... but I think that's something he would want to forget about!
And is it Jason or Jacky?
Okay, so it isn't that good of a horror movie. Actually, the effect are pretty cheesy. But it's so bad, it's good!
Great movie and a classic beginning to a movie empire. You won't spend a night in the woods near a lake alone ever again :-)
Right... How is this a classic? For all you idiots out there that thought Jason was the killer, you're stupid. It's his mother, it even tells you that in the film! And no, this isnt any good. What's classic about it? The no blood, the crappy slashing foolish fool Jason. Really, Jason & his mum dont go well together.
Jason is meant to be 21 in this movie anyway, is he - no. He sounds like five.
It´s not scary as I thought, but still it´s a horror classic, with the typical 70´s horror clichés like bad performances and bad dialogues. It´s a total dissapointed A nightmare on Elm Street it´s ten times better.i
Tch Tch Tch ... Ahh Ahh Ahh ... On se demande comment on supportait des navets pareils ! Et pourtant on va quand même voir LES suites... Tch Tch Tch ... Ahh Ahh Ahh ...
ok, this will sound shocking, one of the funniest thing i've seen in a long long time, though i must admit bits were freaky, but some buts, you're like whoa, that is so lame!!!
LOL. I must have been on CRACK when I left that comment. This movie is awful. I had only seen a bit of it last time I saw it but now I can safely say that it is the biggest pile of shit I'veever seen. The acting is awful. The villain is just laughable. What bugged me most about this movie was how the dumbass 'heroine' never thought to pick up the knife and finish the job once she'd knocked out the villain. I mean she could have saved herself some time by just doing that instead of running away. God, this movie sucks balls. And the 'beheading sequence'? Absolutely laughable. What a rubbish movie.
A pretty good slasher for it's time, the plot is basic 5 or 6 teenagers in the woods alone preparing a camp for reopening some years after a horrible tragedy happened, as you guessed they start getting killed. Tom Savini makes this movie good because of his make up effects and the film is a lot better then today's attempts at slasher flicks (apart from the Scream films) and manages a few scares. The music towards the end was very influenced by the Psycho music, it has an original killer (for the time) and some great death scenes.
love it or hate it, i don't care! i love this movie! (just for the record, jason is NOT the killer in this one). this one's about revenge (pertaing to the afore mentioned jason). one of the best slasher films.

In spite of all the sequels, this was very well done. This film was a masterpiece in horror/slasher film writing. WRITING being the key and not just visuals. Although simplistic (best for these movies) in some of the dialog, the story was perfect for the situation. LOL, check out Kevin Bacon in his 3nd movie AFTER Animal House!
The sequels should have NEVER been made, making this movie less important in the history of horror films. Most people think of these movies as crappy horror flicks, which is true now. The first stands out clearly among the rest.
Most people think Jason when they see the title of this movie. Watch this for the first time and you will be surprised. Campy!?.......... (no pun intended....well maybe)......... Oh, very much so, but look at the year it was made.
You can trash this movie if you want to, but let me ask you one thing - How many other movies can you name which spawned 10 sequels? Think about that one.
Jason is a character that has scared the daylights out of me ever since I was a kid and first saw the movies. It is in my belief that some of the coolest and best depicted murder scenes in a horror movie, ever, are in this series:
In Jason X, after he "defrosted", he stuck the woman's face into (assuming) liquid nitrogen and smashed it on the counter.
In another movie (forgot which), he impaled the girl's boyfriend with his machete while the guy was laying on the bed, then cracked his spine by folding up the mattress on him.
And the trailer scene in yet another movie, when, after the couple had sex, he smashed the woman's face into a wall of the trailer, stabbed the guy through the head, and left the trailer in a burning inferno.
Classic horror scenes right there. For me, I have yet to see other ones that are that creative or interesting to watch.
omg! i love these movies!!! they are like some of my favorites!!!!
Haven't seen it yet, but its one of the horror movies i really want to see.
