Bungling secret agent Maxwell Smart, also known as Agent 86 for CONTROL, is on a mission to battle the forces of their evil crime nemesis known as KAOS with his more-competent partner Agent 99, (whose real name is never revealed) at his side. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreams of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23. Smart will do whatever it takes to thwart the latest plot for world domination by KAOS.

Get Smart was on my list of "to see" this year for a while and luckily I manged to pick the time to go and finally have seen it. I am pleasently suprised and have to admit that I laughed a lot but under restrain considering the vast amount of irritating 15 year old kids around me, mucking around. Definatly a film I will have to watch again considering my annoyance at the kids in the cinema. However I enjoyed it a lot and Get Smart is probably Peter Segal's best film.

Get Smart is based around the 60's TV show of the same name and from the pictures of the show that I've seen, the majority of the characters look exactly like the TV Show. So that's a bonus. Casting for Get Smart is brilliant and pretty well done indeed. Steve Carrell, as most people know, is a comic genuis and just the very image of his face makes you laugh. Carrell has a brilliant comic talent and delivers lines to perfection with such brilliant comic timing, that will leave you laughing and laughing. The lines for Max Smart seemed to be entirely written for him and him alone and I'm sure no-one else is more suited for this role than him. Anne Hathaway is, like Carrell perfect as Agent 99, although is depicted as more intelligent than Smart doesn't deliver nearly as many funny lines. She is also pretty spot on as Agent 99 and is your modern-day woman who out-smarts Smart so to speak. I would have liked to see more comic lines for her as we knew she can do it, as she did in The Princess Diaries. Alan Arkin steals every scene he's in and just showcases what a true acting legend he really is and how much he brings to the roles he takes. Worth mentioning the scene with the Vic-President, HA! Had me laughing-just totally unlike what you would expect of him. Notable mention to Dwayne Johnson and a smale cameo from the great Bill Murray, who seriously made my day. Also the great Terrrance Stamp of "General Zod" Fame. Ha I loved the scene where the two met.

There are a few flaws however. I think the only thing wrong with Get Smart is the screenplay. Whoever wrote it obviosuly wrote the lines for Carrell but not for the rest of the cast. Some of the jokes feel old and just not funny others are hilaous however. Naturally the film doesn't try and be brillianta dn it knows that so perhaps the old jokes where because of that I don't know. Just felt like there was something missing from the script. Wahat makes up for the poor screenplay is the smart delivery of the lines and the situation they're in. Trust me, if you're in a great cinema with great company you will laugh a lot. Perhaps I am still annoyed by the group of kids talking and kicking my site throughout the film.

Get Smart is original and different to many of the comedies released this year and far superioir in every way. I think the key to it's sucess is the likeablity factr of the cast. You don't feel irritated by them, which translates to you in a positive way thoughout the film. It's directed well and has a great opening sequence and an ending sequence which will have you singing the theme tune when you get home.

Get Smart is just the perfect film to cheer you over the summer months and will have you laughing. Perhaps not out-loud but also smiling at the presence of Carrell every time. I highly recomened this one to ne and all. Close to be very good and perhaps if this becomes a franchise they can work on the screenplay which was the only flaw of the film.

Funnier than I thought it'd be. It's a bit of a shame that the trailer spoils the best bits too. Didnt like Terence Stamp as the bad guy - poor choice. Worth a watch if you want a laugh.

Untaxing entertainment with a few good laughs and some likeable characters - the four actors with names above title are all good in their roles and whereas it might not win any prizes for originality, it lands firmly into the above average (and possibly overrated by half a star) three and a half star zone that many of my recent watches have done.

I thought that Dwayne Johnson was amazing.
I liked Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell as partners but I didn't like them as a romantic couple.
And Masi just stole the show. I wanted to see more of him.

A huge lot like Johnny English, but perhaps even funnier. There were plenty of funny characters in this one, but Steve Carell definitely does a brilliant job as the lead character here.
This film involved plenty of laughs and by that I mean not just those shown in the trailers. You're guaranteed to laugh at least once in every 5 minutes. I did anyways.
Overall a brilliant comedy movie, which perhaps should've been a bit shorter as it seemed to drag on a bit towards the end, but good nevertheless.

steve carell is anaii yes, plural for anus. we don't care for his antics as he rummages round russia and other places. the only good bit is where he does things in the aeroplane bathroom. but thats on tadvert so it donny count. (leans forward) CUNT

Slightly predictable comedy that's only really saved by Carell and sidekick Hathaway, aswell as various laugh out loud moments.

Steve Carrell always manages to make me laugh, however this film isnt that great. Better then Johnny English however.
Most of the funniest jokes were in the advert.
For a spoof, its ok, but in comparison to SuperHero movie which was also out this summer, it just doesnt compare.
    Disappointing :|

A very 'Smart' movie indeed! Carell brings his A-game to the part, the script is witty and while it's a little flabby in places, it's one of the most sheer fun films I've seen in months.

My family had wanted to see this when we saw it was coming out because 1. it looked funny and 2. my dad watched the actual TV show as a kid and wanted to see how the movie was. All of us enjoyed the movie. I was a little disappointed that they didn't put in as many catch phrases that the old Maxwell Smart used in the TV show, but they worked some of them in and I think that I speak for my family when I say they did a pretty good job on the movie.

I loved this movie. It was hilarious and kept me entertained the whole way through and really, that's what makes a movie great if it can keep you wanting to watch as it goes on. This is one of those movies where I can just sit down at home and watch if I feel like having a good laugh.

I didn't like this movie all that much, although I didn't hate it. I think it'd be a fun movie for kids and families, but it wasn't really my taste. Without Steve Carell this movie wouldn't have been any good, but it remained mediocre with some funny moments.

While quite amusing (Would you believe 130 black ops snipers? 40 commandos? Chuck Norris with a BB gun?), it's got some dirty language which I frown upon (though it's very well placed) and unneccessary sexual innuendos. If you don't mind a few gay jokes or cussing, this is a fantastic movie.

haha i absolutely loved this movie it was way better than ii thought it was going to be and i was laughing all the way through the movie

steve carell is just a excellent comedy actor and after this performance think he is lightly under rated because not only was this a comedy movie but there was actually some serious parts were he was just as good

    well worth a watch
