Hancock, Hancock, I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie. In fact, I wasn't even planning to see the movie, but the mall was so boring that I decided to the flick anyways. When I saw the trailer, I thought it looked like a fun summer movie. There was nothing really amazing or intriguing about the movie.
Hancock is a superhero, but a very different one. He is always drinking and the public hates him so much. When bad guys are on the loose or people's life is in danger, he gets the job done, but not without leaving a big mess behind. The thing is that Hancock doesn't care what people think about him, the public had have enough of this guy rude behavior. His life suddenly changes when one day he saves the life of Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), a PR executive. With the help of Embrey, Hancock starts realizing he may have a side he hasn't seen and the side that the public really need.
At first, things going smooth in the story, but then there is a twist in the movie that I thought the director could off done better. I thought it took a while to fully explain everything in the movie. I was getting a little confused when they were trying to pick up after the twist, but I understood everything at the end.
I really liked Will Smith as Hancock. I loved the character and Will Smith did a great job. It wasn't his best performance, but a great one. Jason Bateman was a good choice to play Ray Embrey. I think he did a fine job acting. There were some scenes that he was trying to be humorous, but it didn't worked that well. And there was Charlize Theron, which I thought was great as Mary Embrey.
Hancock has good action scenes and good enough special effects. The movie wasn't really action packed; it was just an average action movie. The special effects were believable, but not realistic. To me, they didn't look as really as other blockbuster films. But that doesn't mean I didn't liked them, I'm so saying they could off been better.
Hancock was a good superhero movie. The only problem that I had was the twist. If it wasn't for that, I would off give the movie a better rating. The movie has good humor, action, and special effects. It wasn't the best superhero film, but a good popcorn summer flick. -

MCT:October 11, 2008Wow, this movie was powerful. Will Smith took on a role like no other I've seen him in. He put in a great performance. Highly unusual plot, but with the classic good vs. evil theme--Hancock style. You gotta see it to understand what I mean. Charlize Theron & Jason Bateman were also at their peaks.

F*Ck OFF! That was the first impression from me to Hancock . The first 45 minutes just all-crap things everywhere . From the annoying super-powered man , Hancock . The pointless storyline , the destruction by Hancock himself just made me ready to rate Hancock as a 1/2(HALF) star movie . Even worse than the cliche teen-craze High School Musical .
But , as the time went by . I saw a very good development , especially after the <s>he went out from prison</s> and started the TRUE drama with all the characters . So here's , my kindness , 2 1/2 stars .
I want to speak about fact . Would believe if there's a magazine(called F*RST Indonesia) rated this F*CK OFF! movie straight 5 stars and gave The Dark Knight 4 stars ?
Since that time , even with that clean and nice layouts , i wouldn't buy the magazine anymore . Bad , bad reviewer .
Hancock has a little bit' shaky-dizzy camera , score filled with the character's voices and breathes (wanna' copy No Country for Oldman , huh?) , full of profanities script .
All above just made this movie is a super unwatchable to kids . Actually , if they loose all of above , Hancock maybe the next X-men for the kids .
Talking about the action and comedies . Will Smith and the script-maker broke them all to be crap-talks and profanities . It's sometimes hard to reveal the comedy side of depressed drunk 'superhero' .
Will Smith as Hancock himself looked depressing and really so-not-hot at all ,so far i've seen Will Smith as actor , maybe this is one of his worst role .
Charlize Theron as Mary Embrey . Why Charlize ? This role just down-graded her status as A-list star . You don't need Charlize only for this easy role , even if you put Sophia Bush or Lindsay Lohan . It'll stay the same . Well , i agree that Charlize was a good name for this crap . But , it's just wasting of her talent (and money) .
Jason Bateman as Ray Embrey . He's just another forgettable character , no impressions . Just awful . Honestly , you better put good-looking actors like Patrick Dempsey or Colin Farrel as the cast, if you want to raise the box office-profit of this movie . Same skill better effect .
At the end, F*CK OFF ! Hancock . You're not a hero , just stupid super-powered human . With no REAL antagonists and blurred storyline . What do you expect much ?

This was a different kind of superhero movie. Packed with action and special effects and a believable performance by Will Smith made this movie a must see. It satisfies any guys appetite for destruction. Usually when the villians cross the line they get arrested. Nothing special and somewhat dissapointing and average. If you cross Hancock he trashes the town with you and makes it real. This is one for my collection.

worth seeing only because it cost 1 dollar. it was a movie that had no idea what it wanted to be: comedy, action, drama and it did not mix the genres very well at all. It switched genre three separate times and it was painfully obvious when it did. It had so much potential, will smith always seems to deliver but this was almost as bad as Wild Wild West

This just goes to show that Will Smith can play anything even a drunken superhero! I thought Will did an amazing job like always and Jason Bateman was good for a laugh! Loved the plot, special effects and everything else about this movie!

This movie is a good example of a great idea, but very poor execution.
Hard to review without giving too much away, but I think it is safe to say that Hancock is a super hero who has little insight into himself, his actions, or his impact on others nor does he care. As various aspects of the storyline unfold we are brought to a place where the story could have gone the route of true intrigue and incorporated plotlines that are rarely seen in "super hero films."
The problem is that these issues are simply thrown against the wall and they try and see which ones will stick. The writers leave so much unfinished and unexamined that by the end the viewer is left completely unsatisfied.
The performances were quite good as one might expect from Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron and they did quite well with what they had to work with, but it could have gone so much farther down the hole.
Check it out because it begs some interesting questions and has some interesting visuals, but don't imagine that this movie will move past tepid because it won't. -

well... hancock is really a quite special type of superhero, dont u think? at d beginning, it's kinda funny, but when Mary show her superpower, everything had come to a twist... hmm, at lis it got a good ending afterall...

Will Smith, as always, does an outstanding job as Hancock and the special effects were pretty good too but the plot is a little thin.
If you're a fan of Will Smith and his roles in action, sci-fi, comedy or a blend of all three, go see this film. -

To all U guys out there who say that this is a good movie... Your wrong... It was FANTASTIC! And to all you crazy loons who say that it was "Terrible" and "a waste of your time"... YOU'RE STUPID! I thought that this was an amazing action packed movie with a neat and surprising twist. And the humorous moments were a plus! Overall... I LOVED IT!

I love action movies. Haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've seen on the previews, it looks like a great movie, something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love watching Will Smith because in his own way, he gets a little comedic with it, like he's not afraid to change the story lines, push the limit a little bit. He's very mannly and handsome!!
