I only watched it because I'd seen the other ones. Storyline keeps going, but I still watched it mainly for the gore.
once again we see how far a film will go to not only scare, but puzzle you to the brink of insanity can't wait for Saw 5
Saw has come a long way from being just a cleverly played out movie in one critical locale with just 2 players duking it out, and with the ditching of the iconic grimy toilet for Saw IV, it's an indication that it wants to shed itself of past inhibitions. While the key figure might have met his demise, he had already set in motion his ideas and philosophy that have its fair share of supporters, and the concept will outlast the man himself. What Saw had spawned was a series of torture porn movies (Turistas, Hostel franchise, Wolf Creek, the list goes on), but what makes it truly memorable, is how easily its ideology gets transplanted to other wannabes, and as a sign of it reaching legendary and cult status, its momentous theme song is one of a kind.
this was the best of all 4 i love the part where that chick almost gets her hair ripped out of her skull
wow!i have to say this is another great movie since the 1st one..i liked the twist, storyline casting everything..another torturing movie..i wud say two thumbs of for all the crew, writer, cast and the director!!wow this is so amazing..i wonder hoe the writer keeps the excitement of all the saw movies..now im excited for the next saw v... after this is one of my favorite suspense movie of all time.....
Okay, now I think it's getting predictable.By the end of the movie, they will just give a twist and there you'll have another sequel.I don't mind that, but at this time, the plot is getting boring and the games were very predictable enough that all of my guessing turned out to be true (if that's the case, then this is BIG no-no for me!).The ending of the story left me puzzled anyways. What is the conclusion?Jigsaw left an apprentice after he died? How is the detective have the connection with Jigsaw anyways?Seriously, if I'm questioning this after religiously watching all the Saw movies, then this one definitely had something wrong with the plots.Better fix it for the V. But overall, the biggest disappointment of all.Even worst than Saw II
i really liked it, but i didnt quite understand some of the plot, like how the detective was even connected to jigsaw in anyway....did he just hear jigsaw's message and then decide he was right and the work really needed to be conitnued???
Hey Marky Mark doesnt appear on the credits here LoL... Gotta see them all in a row to really get fucked up in the head...
I'm a big fan of the Saw franchise and its just amazing the way they keep making brilliant sequels. This one is my 3rd favorite after 3 and 1.
As always, this series does not disapoint. Blood, carnage, and did i mention blood. And an ending that will send you into the worst migraine headache you have ever had so take a bucket and a bottle of Advil in to this movie. I own the entire collection of Saw and would recommend it to any favored lover of gore.
i think it's time to cut off the story...dont u think so? if u have the real Jigsaw it's a fantastic movie...now it's the end of time!
Pretty good movie, I love how all the pieces match together at the end. It's pretty confusing though, you've better seen SawIII recently if you wanna enjoy it 100%
hmmm, i think by this movie, i kind of started to get bored.... It was still great, but too much of the same thing gets tedious (i hope someone tells the director this^^) unexpectedly connecting this movie to the last kept me intrigued, and the mechanics were still good..
Apparently a trilogy just wasn't enough. With a fifth installment less than two months away and a sixth in the works it seems the makers of the 'Saw' franchise won't quit what started as an intelligent and provocative idea while the films continue to make numbers at the box-office. It's a shame, because I still hold the one that started it all in high esteem. Unfortunately the idea has descended into something rather sickening, repetitive and pretentious.
'Saw 4' picks up just after Jigsaw's death, but we learn the games are far from over for the cops who have been tirelessly hunting him down. Detective Hoffman is aided by two FBI agents while S.W.A.T Commander Rigg is thrust into a deadly game of survival. You'd be right in thinking the plot sounds familiar. Hoffman is certain Jigsaw and Amanda had a second accomplice, but is it the bitter ex-wife, rookie cop or stung lawyer who bares a grudge against the force? Do we actually care?
Okay so 'Saw 4' is a very small step up from the sluggish and dull plot of 'Saw 3', but the writing and direction has become idle and indifferent. The characters are all rough sketches and I cared for only one, and she was of a minor supporting role. The twists too have gone from sit-up-in-your-seat slap-in-the-face shocking too routine and chronology based. The previous sequels employed the same technique, and 'Saw 4' emblazens no ambition or ideas.
But for those who enjoyed the thriller aspects of the original, 'Saw 4' is the first to come even a little close to unfolding a dramatic edge to the grisly and brutal token deaths. Interesting, if rather convoluted flashbacks of how Jigsaw became the sadistic monster of his later years start to pose a moral threat to the audience, but are all too soon brushed under the carpet. The guise of improving one's own life through these death-traps just fail to convince; the direction is too rushed, too smug and lacking in persuasive effort.
Of course the film's star attarction is the gore factor, but for the purists who can't wait to throw-up with satisfactory pleasure, be warned - 'Saw 4' is lazy even in that respect. Personally I was pleased the director decided to move beyond the grotesque imagery of the third film, but I'm sure the information won't please die-hard fans. But 'Saw 4' is lazy in every respect; direction, writing, acting and plotting. Nothing really makes an impression.
I don't even have the hope 'Saw 5' will be a good film. Here the final resolution is muddled and untidy, the focus on too many characters, the atmosphere static, almost non-existent. I know what to expect, and it is guaranteed to be delivered no matter the quality.
Better than the Saw III, but less good than I and II, this Saw movie scores an average on the horror scale. It has got some nice contraptions and "faces of death" (the first scene is the opening of Jigsaw's skull...), but I fear Saw is running out of ideas. I don't think the next Saw movies will be very good. But oh well, we had fun!
The Saw franchise has quickly become incredibly formulaic. You've got your torture traps, gore, pseudo-moral dilemmas, and the twist ending that only ends up being creative when James Wan is involved in the writing (that would be Saw and Saw 3 for those keeping score).
And studios know they can keep pumping these out because loyal fans who got hooked on the first one will keep coming back for more. I know I'm part of the problem, I just seem to be stuck in this state of inertia watching these damn things. Oddly enough, there was very little random torture in the first Saw, and it looks like the horrid Saw 2 has set the tone for this franchise from here on in. Frown.
The end was rly confusing.. A big twist, yeah. But it still left A LOT of unanswered questions...
Def not better than the 2nd.
Under the 1st trilogy, but anyway, we still all want to see the V, VI, VII (already planned)... Til what? Saw XXX, in 2033?
:D
Greaaaat!
Oh my god, Darren Bousman needs stop directing the Saw movies. All of them sucked horribly besides the first one and he didn't even direct that one! Thank god, I didn't sit through this piece of garbage.
I LOVEEEEED THIS MOVIE!!!!! If you LOVE muder mystery, and you love on the end movies,,,, you will LOVE this movie too.
i loved this movie. i cant wsit for 5 cuz i really love the story line and there are still a lot of questions unanswered for me. im cant wait till october24.
Extremely disappointing. Nothing like the first and second instalments. Hell, even the third one was better than this. A bit too confusing if you ask me. The idea of now waiting on a sequel to reveal more about the twist puts me right off. The traps were still pretty impressive though, being revolting and twisted as usual but still didn't save the film from being a total mess.
Jigsaw: You think it is over, but the games have just begun!!
This movie probably has to be my favorite outta the 4, just because the ending really messed with my mind, and after seeing it in the theater I was walking back to my car saying did that just happen? So yet another good movie by Darren Lynn Bousman and who passed on the torch to David Hackl who directed Saw V.. yay
This is a sequencel and the storyline don't work with the movies that have been before this movie. otherwise pretty good movie

Yet another long drawn out "SAW" Series that should just END!!!! This film from the moment you watched it was very bizarre. I would have to say though one word to describe this film.. and that is "indescribable". I didn't last long watching this garbage of a movie. If u ever see this series please be sure to just watch only the 1st film which is the best and actually makes sense.
