After his massive sucess in 2002(i watched two times),The Amazing Spider-Man returns for another kick-ass ride and after seen this one,Spider-Man 2 is the best of all three(specially SM3).There´s no doubt that the entrance of Doctor Octopus gives a new fresh look to the movie.Alfred Molina was a great choice for the role and he stole the show just like the Green Goblin did in the first one.Tobey Maguire proves once again why is Spider-Man and Kirsten is more gorgeous in this one.Forget Spider-Man 3,ladies and gentleman.Spider-Man 2 is a hell of ride and the best superhero flick ever made alongside Superman and The Dark Knight.

Spider-Man 2 shows the development of Peter Parker in a way that makes us all want to choose to do good -- even over our own wishes. Good guys really do win in the end, and Spider-Man 2 also shows that good guys can also get the girl. Peter Parker makes you think that regular guys can do amazing things -- if they choose to be good and put others first. The is a first rate adventure.

Tobi is the perfect Peter Parker... naive, chump looking but he pulls off a good SM (maybe cuz his face is covered?)... and Kirsten... yeah, she is the best part of the movie...

Peter Parker begins to find the life of a super hero a rather thankless task, and increasingly stressed by his inability to balance work, school and fighting crime he decides to quit being Spiderman. Unfortunately he does not count on a scientific experiment going wrong that turns an altruistic genius into a mechanically enhanced megalomaniac! Spiderman builds on a fine original and delivers all it promised, and more. The action sequences are brilliantly done, and even more importantly, it intelligently fleshes out the characters with humour and depth. The way Peter has to confront the pros and cons of superherodom is really cleverly done, and it injects even more clever humour; in particular the scenes when Peter accidentally dyes his smalls with his spider suit and taking a lift when his powers fail him. It's witty, funny and exciting, and everything a superhero film should be. And once more I felt sorry for anyone having to share a scene with the brilliant J. K. Simmons! One of the best hero movies out there.

The best of the current Spider-Man films. Unlike part three this film doesn't feel bloated and rushed. While it's true that Doc Ock isn't really a great villian he is still a welcome addition. The action scenes in this film are absolutely incredible. Don't laugh at the plot though people remember it is a comic book movie.

I quite liked Doc Oc in here. The continuing evolution of Peter and MJ's relationship is ably captured - though I still don't think the passion of the leads is believable.

probably one of the greatest comic book sequel ever made. the second installment of the Spider-Man trilogy is more darker and sinister than the first film. and maybe some of the greatest action sequences ever. the story for Spider-Man 2 is: Two years have passed since the mild-mannered Peter Parker walked away from his longtime love Mary Jane Watson and decided to take the road to responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter must face new challeges as he struggles to cope with "the gift and the curse" of his powers while balancing his dual identities as the elusive superhero Spider-Man and life as a college student. The relationships Peter holds most dear are now in danger of unraveling as he clashes with the powerful, multi-tentacled villain Doctor Octopus aka "Doc Ock. Alfred Molina is a great villain and also starring Tobey Maguire,Kirsten Dunst,J.K. Simmons and James Franco. i wouldn't call this movie a PG and for some good reasons. a masterpeice of a film from director Sam Raimi.

In some ways better than the first.. And in some ways a pre-curser to the fundamental flaws of the 3rd. Very nice sequal in general.

The first Spider-Man movie was a pretty big let down, and not surprisingly, with all of the hype it received, so was the second. All of the talk about the great action sequences and cool villains was definitely beyond the reality of the movie. While doc-oc was pretty cool, the action was way too rushed because of the way the rest of the movie drags about, especially thanks to the, once again, over-blown romantic life of spider-man. Does anyone care who Spidey dates? Seriously? I'm just irritated that they took one of the coolest super heroes and turned it into 3 chick flicks. The action was good for it's short life-span.

Driven by a story rather than special effects this film has just about everything. Tobey Maguire does a fine job as Spidey and the bad guy isn't bad either. Good to see a superhero in personal conflict for a change.

Doc Ock: You're getting on my nerves.
    Spider-Man: I have a knack for that.

Better than the first, a nearly perfect superhero movie and one of the best in recent years.

This time around things follow the sequel rules of becoming bigger and more epic, but maintains itself by keeping its substance above style. The story is stronger, the action is very well handled and looks great as do the effects, there are a lot more cool things going on in this film, but there is still time to be very character focused, which is effective for a movie about the choices a character makes.

For Spider-Man, things are going alright. He's saving the day, having a good time in his tights. For Peter Parker...my God, where to begin. He is getting bitched at the entire time, by everyone, MJ, Harry, Octavius, Dr. Conners, Jameson, even Aunt May gets in her bit. Parker gets crapped on the entire time, the stress even makes him lose his powers for a bit. The story revolves around the choice Parker he has made and how he must deal with having superpowers.

Aunt May: I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want most, even our dreams.

Besides that, we also have Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. This character was so well handled, given an even better character aspect than the comics, which mainly portrayed him as a vengeful nerd. The fights between him and Spider-Man are epic, especially since they are basically fights to the death and are a lot more imposing in terms of scale and emotion compared to the first film and its treatment of the Green Goblin.

The rest of the cast is also up to par. Kirsten Dunst seems to fit her role more appropriately this time around. James Franco does a good enough job leaning towards the dark side. Rosemary Harris still fits very well as Aunt May. There are many more supporting player setups for future films as well. The pitch perfect casting of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson still proves to be a great choice.

Miss Brant: Sir, your wife's on the line, she said she lost her checkbook.
    J. Jonah Jameson: Thanks for the good news!

Even the score of this movie is more impressive than the first. It may have the same standard action flare that the first unfortunately gave the series, but it still does a good job within the film.

This sequel is easily more of a Sam Raimi film as well, with certain scenes that are completely familiar to any Evil Dead fan. There are also the spots of humor that have that great Raimi touch as well, along with a Bruce Campbell cameo.

Very well made, well scripted, superhero movie, that takes its time to develop its characters as well as deliver some great looking action.

    Mr. Aziz: Parker! Always late.
Peter Parker: I'm sorry Mr. Aziz, there was a...disturbance.

Ah the angst...Peter Parker is definitely one of the more torn and damaged of the Marvel characters and Toby Maguire portrays that so well.

One of the best parts of this whole storyline is that ALL of the characters, even the bad guys, have issues that we can all identify with. I mean you know they're bad and you want Spidey to get them, but at the same time, you can understand what happened to them and why they are the way they are. They're not just two-dimensional I Want To Rule The World types.

Lastly, I have to say I just LURVE the scene in the train car when the passengers are handing Peter back after he saved them. And how they react when Doc Oc comes to get him. Wicked. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about the human race.

If there is ever an exception to all sequels being bad, this is it right here.
What really won me over in this Spider-Man sequel was the acting, I think that Alfred Molina as Doc Ock worked out wonderfully, and I think that Tobey Maguire's performance was a definate step up in this one as compared to the first.
There is alot more action and fighting scenes in this one, something that I really don't think make a good movie, but nevertheless it is there and as good as it gets. I looked more at the dialogue and plot of this film, both were wonderful, I love the story of Doc Ock and I've always thought that he was one of the best Spider-Man villains ever.
Overall, I think that it's the best Spider-Man film of Sam Raimi's trilogy and also one of the best superhero films ever.

Spider-Man 2 is a 2004 American superhero film directed by Sam Raimi, written by Alvin Sargent and developed by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, David Koepp and Michael Chabon. It is the second film in the Spider-Man film franchise based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It saw the return of Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson and James Franco as Harry Osborn.

It is set two years after the original. It focuses on Peter Parker struggling to manage both his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man. The main villain in this film is Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), who turns insane following a failed experiment and the death of his wife. Using his mechanical tentacles, Octavius is dubbed "Doctor Octopus" and threatens to endanger the lives of the people of New York City.

MizasterJ: being a superhero is not all fun and games, getting the girl, jumping around beating up bad guys. He has his life too, it's not just all appearances. He has problems being Spider-Man and that shows. Just because you wanted something else doesn't that that would have made it a good movie. Just look at Fantastic Four, I'm sure you think that movie deserves a 5/5, don't you?

the first spiderman movie was A LOT better..this one had a weaker storyline, i didn't care much for the villain in comparison to the green goblin, the acting was decent, although the ending scene where harry discovers who his father truly was and what he must carry on is awesome

Superb sequal to an excellent film. Sam Raimi outdid himself & retained all the elements of the comics from both the 60's & modernday. Alfred Molina was incomprable as Doc Ock as was JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson. Tobey Maguire added more depth to Peter, making him seem more human than the first. & this was the first time we actually saw Aunt May in peril, which was great, Stan did it all the time back in the day. 10/10

What was going on? Ya know this was supposed to be a superhero super action movie, but what you got in the duration of the film was alot of unecessary dialouge. Moping characters and uninteresting everyday scenes cause you to forget your watching Spiderman. Instead what you're seeing is a lackluster soap opera that leaves you begging for some action. The repetition of long awkward scenes with tobey, will put you to sleep. The character's problems seem nothing short of boring and it makes you ask whats wrong with theese people that they cant get their lifes back on track. It becomes depressing seeing the main character fail to take his head out of the dumpster. I mean how much of a loser can he be, before the audience looses all respect and interest? The actor playing the villian seems a bit out of character and watching his saggy naked chest really tends to discredit him as a threat. Why couldnt they cover that up with some cool metalic body armor? The story tries to follow the comic book but fails to introduce the villian properly as Peter's old science instructor. Alot happens in this movie to change relationships between characters and zooms through the timeline of events in the comic in a hurry. However, the metalic arms of the villian are extra cool and the action and fight sequences are awesome to behold. You will be dazzled by the stunts and special effects. If anything go see this movie for the few action sequences and the stunning look and sound of doc ock. Don't expect too much out of the story because you will be dissapointed.Near the end you are expecting a big pick me up turning point for spidey, and you can predict what is going to happen, but it never does and you are left wondering what was that about? Overall this movie barely out shines the first and fails to live up to the hype and expectations of spidey fans, but still a good fun film.
