Plot: Clean-cut kid Alex Corvis (Eric Mabius) is framed and executed for the brutal murder of his girlfriend (Jodi Lynn O'Keefe). He is revived by a crow spirit guide to hunt down the corrupt policemen who ...( read more read more... )committed the crime, and ultimately to unmask the mysterious scarred man who ordered her death. The macabre noirish spin James O'Barr's original graphic novels put on the superhero mythos translated reasonably well for the original film of the series, directed by Alex Proyas in 1994 and starring the late Brandon Lee. But the premise had already worn thin by the first sequel, 1996's The Crow: City of Angels, and this entry simply rehashes the same story (tragic hero in clown greasepaint avenges beautiful dead girlfriend by eliminating outlandish villains) without adding anything new to the mix. Mabius brings nothing to the role except boyish good looks, while Kirsten Dunst is wasted in a supporting role as the murdered girl's sister. The supporting cast includes career cad William Atherton as Dunst's red-handed dad, and Fred Ward as a police captain with a taste for recreational surgery. Director Bharat Nalluri (the minor U.K. cult pic Killing Time, 1998) ably handles the action scenes and faux postindustrial atmosphere but seems at odds with how to pace or stage dialogue scenes (not that X-Files scribe Chip Johannesson's script provides any worth the effort). Gore effects courtesy the KNB Group and a Sturm und Drang soundtrack featuring Kid Rock, Hole, and others will help hold the most loyal fans' interest. --Paul Gaita

NO NO NO there should never have been a sequel or any other crow film made. You cannot get a part of the magic of the original by making sub standard replicas, the original was too good to stand against. These films were weak, the make up was bad and the sets and style were cheap looking. It doesn't matter who you get, David boreanz, kirsten dunst, tara reid, many have come and all are failing.

Not exactly the best of the series, but this one brings a new idea to the table that The Crow can die. But other than that, it is the standard Crow attempt to follow the original and can't compare to the cult classic.

Has it's flaws but this is a million times better than City of Angels. Not as good as the original obviously, see my comment about flaws, but not a cheap carbon copy either

Now here is a straight to DVD in a good way.

This is my second favourite Crow movie. I think the mood, acting and direction is pretyt good all around.

I also love the music score which I think set's the tone for the overall feel of the movie.

It may be more watchable than the second, but it descends into typical 2nd sequel cheap straight-to-videoness.

This is the only one I've seen. It was really good but I would really like to see the others. The effects were ok. I don't really have much to say though. I need to see it again.

Not a bad Crow movie which would of served the series better if it was the second instead of City Of Angels.

The first sequel to "The Crow" was pretty much the same movie just not as good, same plot, same characters and so on. With that said "The Crow - Salvation" the second sequel is with out a doubt a step in the right direction. Here Alex Corvis (Eric Mabius) gets executed for the murder of his girlfriend, but he is innocent and once again a crow brings back a person to life to make the 'wrong things right'. Alex must now find the men that framed him and make them pay with their own lives. "The Crow - Salvation" is not near as good as the first movie, but just not a repeat of it either, it can stand on it's own and has it's good scenes and music. There is only one thing holding it back from another star: Kirsten Dunst, who can't act at all, she is without a doubt one of the worst actresses working today. In the end, skip "The Crow: City Of Angels" and watch this one instead.

Hmmmm. I don't know if I want to watch this or not. After the other Crow movie and spin-off's I'm a bit nervous about further tarnishing the brand.

This film was actually as good as the first one. maybe the crow series has star trek syndrome, only that the even numbered ones aren't as good.

Probably the best of the sequals, but it dosn't match the quality of the original at any point during the movie.

a decent third movie in the crow series. with some great bad guys and some great supporting perforamnces and a decent script help make this a passable fare but not original or as good as the original. cautious it is very violent.

An innocent man is sent to prison and is executed for a crime he did not commit. This storyline has been done more times than a person could count, in the movie industry. The twist here is that the innocent man, played by a still rather unknown Eric Mabius, comes back to avenge what is basically his murder.

Instead of ruthlessly taking out a bunch of prison guards, etc. he takes out the people who framed him. This follows along the lines of what James O' Barr (the creator of the original Crow graphic novel) presented in the idea for his character. An innocent person is killed and brought back to avenge his death, and set right, the wrongs committed.

While this movie was far less known than the first two movies in the franchise--due in large part to it being Directo to DVD--it was still an improvement on that first sequel. Bad pun here, but Savation, for The Crow, is redemption for fans of The Crow.

hmmm...i wanted to like this,i LOVE the crow..but this just missed the mark.the soundtrack just does'nt hit the mark, there's nothing to make u punch the air with gothic lust.the characters are ok,different is ok,not all crow ressurections will be for people with long hair.i think dunst n mabius are fine...the baddies could have been alittle more exiciting or defined and its just missing the originals gothic touch, its abit too serious, the violence is more like a psycho murderer on the loose instead of a comic book vilgilante.still its an interesting turn.

The violence is of course bloody/gory, but this time it actually feels justified like the first time with Eric. Plus, it's always good to see police officers get theirs when death is knocking on the door. Alex uses his healing powers more often than his predecessors, either from the actual need to heal or just to be playful. A common occurrence in all three Crow movies seems to be that each hero is shot repeatedly by several people, which undoubtedly proves their short-lived immortality. Alex, unlike Ashe from the second film, has fun with his victims while he tortures/kills them. It's a better follow-up to the first film. Eric Mabius as the central character shines throughtout. For the first time, we have a character in one of these movies *not* ripping off Brandon Lee, but instead, bringing his own qualities and characterizations to the character. Eric Mabius seemed to have more fun doing the action scenes than the deep/heart-felt scenes, Kristen Dunst looked out of place. While it's no masterpiece, Salvation pulls its weight and manages to be really good.

The Crow Appeared As A Not Caring Vigilante And Wasn't Even Close To Scary. Kirsten Dunst Just Made A Bad Role Appearing In This Movie. And The Movie Didn't Fully Explained Why The Things Happened And If It Did It Was Too Quick.
