Plot: An attempted assassination of the president is told from five different points of view.
Vantage Point is the story of the assassination of the President of the United States. This film plays as a 'suspense thriller', with the director choosing to show the 'assassination' scene through the eyes of 6 different individuals. Frustrating the first few times around as they would cut away just as a character was about to reveal a key piece of evidence to solving the crime.
However, each scene was well acted and after a while you regained interest in the plot as they worked through all the twists. I think the initial pacing of the film leads this one to be a one time viewing only.
The "gimmick" of Vantage Point is that we we see the same 30 minute time period through several different character's viewpoints, one after another, with each one revealing a bit more of the puzzle and advancing the plot a bit further. This turns an average plot and film into an entertaining thriller. William Hurt does make a fine president; nobody else really distinguishes themselves from the pack.
This was an action packed movie that really was told in an interesting way, the same story as represented from the eyes of several different characters who participate in it. All in all, it should hold your attention, because it's done very well.
Interesting concept that keeps you on your heels as you see the stories of the different characters unfold. However, there are many plot holes and the dialogue is not nearly engaging enough to make you care for the characters.
Average movie, but with interesting timeline - Before the devil knows you're dead is better. One thing is the movie does not have any suspense at all in terms of plot - the car chase scene is probably the most thrilling part, the rest is what one expects. Nevertheless still acceptable for a Friday evening on the couch.
Interesting movie and concept but seemed to lose focus in the end and became a bit of a confusing mess - the high body count in the last 10 minutes apparently intended to cover up for lack of ideas on how to finish up.
Great action/thriller, little far fetched of course...lol, Worth the watch, buy, rent or steal this movie. haha. excellent, excellent ;-) Enjoy.
I really liked this one... new spin, or at least different. Not at all what I expected. Thought it was going to be a politically charged movie...but... it was much different than I thought... decent and even a good movie!
quite gd, i like the way that it gives different points of view and reveales a bit of the plot each time, 4 stars
The story unfolds in an unusual way, which is good. The action scenes were really well directed. It's a little predictable, and sometimes over the top, but it's got an excellent cast to make up for it.
Pretty exciting. Especially when its my first movie after many many weeks, I feel like I'm out of rehab finally. Suspense and a thriller and some emotional guilttrap(about the reporter killed in line of duty), my favorite.
Entertaining, really liked the concept, little dissapointed with the end, too pradictable, but overall, really enjoyed it.
The flick has a talented cast, some exciting action sequences, a few amazing twists, incredible visual effects and a few edge-of-your-seat moments. The different points of view plot is intriguing but the repetitions can be annoying and a bit boring.
I liked it! LOL. It was one teasing surprise after another, which was an absolute plus in my book. I was sooooo tempted to rewind it to see if I could catch more clues up front. This super sleuth was on the case from the beginning til the very end.
Works well as a thriller up until the mindbogglingly bad ending. Extremely disappointing and dissatisfying way to end the story. Car chase is also a bit overdone.
i like the intensity but it kinda falls towards the end of the movie. if they could have made it more puzzling it would have been an incredible flick.
Best movie I've seen in a while. You're gonna watch it again or keep your finger on the rewind button....
Cool movie. Liked the way the movie showed the viewpoints form several diffrent people as the movie progressed. Added to the library. Buy it, or rent it, just see it. worth the price.
A for originality, but it's hard to enjoy a movie when watching the same 5-7 minutes of the movie over, over and over again
i liked this movie alot, had alot of twists and turns in the plot. you get 5 different point views of the assination so you really got to pay close attention to the movie worth seeing.
Great Movie. The movie to you back to each persons vantage point before the shots were fired. U have to pay attention to catch the little things.
Vantage Point waszing...a little confusing at 1st but overall it was a great movie!!
vantage point was amazing....a little confusing at first but it was a great movie!!
The story is reasonable and it is a fairly well done action thriller with one of the better car chase sequences in recent years, but it is overall hindered by what makes it unique. The five vantage points are too much of a gimmick instead of a plot building device as the only reason you learn more from each following vantage point is because each succesively goes further into the future and not because it is necessarily different. This easily could have been told with two or maybe even three points of view, be exactly the same and shave off 40 minutes.

i like the fact that 5 different viewpoints were shown...gets you thinking really hard...
oh yeah also wanted to point out in this movie, the assassination was captured by 5 point of views.
The assassination of former US president Ronald Regan which was a warning assassination (he wasn't actually killed, just reminded to listen to his handlers and the fact that he was more of an actor who was just supposed to read the line) was also captured by 5 different cameras.
Notice this:
-This movie played in theatres the weekend the DALLAS primaries started heating up...Dallas is an important spot in presidential assasinations
-This movie started on February 22nd in Canada, this goes back to John F Kennedy's assisnation.
-The USA was the only place in the world that this movie opened on February the 20th or you could say 2/20...that's also a double 2 (the 0 is unimportant) and this was ESPECIALLY concocted for America.
-The movie is an action packed thriller from COLUMBIA pictures...this has a link to Columbia university which was attended by Barack Obama (who they'll make the next president of the US) amongst other things.
The fact is that they have put this out in this particular time with certain elements proving one thing...it was preconceived or forethought...a lot of planning went into this. Maybe you've noticed this for a while now, but what is happening with the globe is being reflected in the films made for 'entertainment'.
High impact movie! keeps u in ur seat! lol very intense, i liked it dispite the the reviews read- they are wrong!! it's a very good movie. It was my brother's movie for his 15th birthday present and im glad i went with him and a few of my friends joined us and i'm glad they did! we had a great day!
